Sharon Barnes Rubinstein

Sharon Barnes Rubinstein is an award-winning director/producer based in San Francisco- with deep filmmaking roots in New York City.She was the personal documentary filmmaker to President Obama during his 2008 campaign and then worked on a freelance basis documenting the President for the Democratic National Committee leading up to the 2012 election.

Sharon has directed short narrative and documentary films that have screened at venues such as Lincoln Center in New York City, on PBS, and at festivals around the world.  She has been featured in Esquire Magazine as a Filmmaker to Watch For.

Sharon has produced numerous short and long form documentary and narrative films including LITTLE ACCIDENTS, an official Sundance selection, KOFI directed by Cary Fukunaga (JANE EYRE), and the Underwater  Unit of Benh Zeitlin’s GLORY AT SEA (dir. of BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD).  She was the Associate Producer for IFC’s FILM SCHOOL and Nanette Burstein’s AMERICAN TEEN.

Apart from producing films, Sharon creates commercial content across all mediums for verticals including fashion (Calvin Klein), technology (TED, frog Design), beauty (L’Oreal, Maybelline), and politics.

Barnes holds a Masters degree from NYU’s Graduate Film program.
